Project Learning- traditional upholstery

About this course

Learn how to upholster a specific type and style of furniture using my curated playlists of skill learning videos.

Do not worry if your actual project is not featured - please choose the nearest style and you will be guided to the relevant tutorials.
For all projects start by using the tutorials in skill learning to guide you through tools, equipment, materials and stripping off.

All the tutorials include a guide as to how long it might take to reupholster a chair. However, please remember that all chairs are diferent! - And everyone works at their own speed.

Materials on chairs that have previously been upholstered using staples will take a lot longer to remove than those where tacks have been used. Therefore it is not possible to include the stripping back process within the timescale.

The time taken to renovate will also depend upon the condition of the original upholstery – whether it’s just a repair job to the stuffing’s or whether you have to start again from scratch.

The number of hours stated below each style of chair in the schedules is a rough estimate should the project be stripped right back to the frame and reupholstered again to the top cover finish using some of the original materials within.
