When Did You Stop Being You?

I couldn't recognize myself.

Everything I had ever done to feel like me stopped working. The workouts, eating clean, time alone — none of it was touching whatever was happening inside. My kids were becoming more independent so I couldn't hide in that role anymore. I felt stuck at my job, stuck where I was living, stuck in my own life. I no longer wanted the things I used to want. I didn't want what I had. I didn't want any other role either. I just wanted to press reset and start completely over with the knowledge I already had and I couldn't. My mind wasn't working the same. My desire had completely gone away. I was just... lost.

That was the moment I realized I had been performing my whole life. And when I stopped, I didn't know who was underneath.

If you have ever felt that way, like you woke up one day and didn't recognize the woman looking back at you; you are not alone and you are not broken. You might just finally be honest enough to stop pretending.

I created The Unmasking journal for exactly this moment. Grab it from the link below and start with prompts 1, 2 and 3 today.

Now I want to hear from you. When did you first realize you had been performing? What was happening in your life at that time?
