Celtic Festival, Moorlands Park Auchenflower Qld, on the 11/10/2026. My Mum's Mother was a McEwen; her Father's Ancestors were Scottish. I have the McEwen Tartan on a blanket and a scarf belonging to my late Mum and late Gran. Funeral ceremonies in Scotland. Did you know that?: a wake may occur before the funeral. It could run for a few nights, for Family, Friends and Community to gather, where they share memories and stories. Come funeral day, a church service is held. A bagpiper plays laments during proceedings. Then, family carry the coffin or walk alongside the hearse to the graveyard. A Minister offers final words after another brief service. Family members lower the coffin into the grave. Then earth or flowers may be thrown into the grave as a farewell. Otherwise, the dead are cremated. Their ashes may be scattered in places of personal significance. Love Kate www.swansongjourney.com.au
